Buddy Walk on Washington & the Down Syndrome Affiliates in Action Conference

National MallIt’s one of my favorite times of the year: this week is the National Down Syndrome Society’s Buddy Walk on Washington and the Down Syndrome Affiliates in Action annual conference.

The Buddy Walk on Washington is an annual day of advocacy on Capitol Hill hosted by the NDSS. The DSAIA conference immediately follows and provides training and networking opportunities for leaders of local Down syndrome support organizations.

Already, friends on Facebook have been posting pictures of arriving in DC (where it was snowing yesterday), or writing about arriving at the airport, excited to be traveling to the conference. Everyone is positively giddy, as am I.

I was a founding board member of DSAIA and wrote more about the conference and organization at this post. This year, I’m presenting three times, each with great co-presenters from the Massachusetts Down Syndrome Congress, NDSS, the Jerome Lejeune Foundation USA, and my colleague at the National Center for Prenatal & Postnatal Down Syndrome Resources. If attending, I hope to see you in at least one of my sessions (and if not there, then afterwards at the social events).

For those attending the National Center’s breakout on medical outreach, the National Center is offering a great deal on its resources. Learn more about this offer at this link.

I wish every one of my friends attending these important conferences safe travel today. I’ve got to leave now to catch my flight!
